02837 Schulz was the only expedition member to visit Arnhem Land, all the other members went to the Kimberleys. The photographs can be grouped as follows: A. Rock formations (ca. 31 photos). B. Close-ups of rock paintings (28 photos). C. Bark paintings (12 photos). D. Three photos of Aboriginal people, including one of men executing a bark painting. (A very similar photograph is reproduced in Schulz: Felsbilder (item 7 above). E. Three photos showing Agnes Schulz in the process of copying rock paintings. The photos are of varying size, ranging from 8 x 5 cm to 23 x 19 cm. Most are about 11 x 8 cm. Some are mounted on paper. Many photos with 'Schulz @25' and a number on the back. (It was the 25th expedition of the Frobenuis Instituit). A few photos have specific captions (Inyaluk, Red Lilys Lagune [i.e. Red Lily Lagoon] and Obiri), and a few have Frobenius-Institut stamps on the back. The Frobenius Insitut is Germany's oldest ethnological research institute in Germany. The State Library of Western Australia holds an album of 420 photographs taken during the 1938/39 expedition, donated by the members of that expedition 'in grateful appreciation of the support and assistance given'. $1650.00AUD Click here to order or message the dealer
