Bound in contemporary half leather with title in gilt on the spine and cloth boards. Leather on spine slightly mottled, rubbing to hinges and corners, clloth boards with some silverfishing, tapemarks to endpapers, some foxing throughout, old library stamps on endpapers and on a few internal pages (but not the title), ownership inscriptions of the Petrie family on endpaper and second blank leaf. * This copy belonged to the Petrie family and has a contemporary inscription 'To dear Mother, from Andrew' on a blank leaf at the beginning. Subsequent ownership inscription of George Petrie, dated Southport, 11/8/20 on the free endpaper. Andrew Laing Petrie was the eldest son of John Petrie (1822-1892) to whom the book was dedicated by Knight, and whose portrait is the frontispiece to this book. The inscription indicates that Andrew Petrie gave this specially bound book to his mother, the late John Petrie's wife. $750.00AUD
